Your Assignment

  • What I have done is taken the code of the program above and rewritten it using functions. I have basically moved statements from the main program into functions, so that the work performed by the second program is identical to the work performed by the first program.
  • I am giving you the code of the second program, except that I have removed the bodies of all the functions except main().
  • Your job is to reconstruct all the functions (except main(), of course, which is complete).
  • The output of your program, with the functions, should be exactly the same as the output of the first program.
  • You cannot modify main(). It is complete and works fine.
  • You have to figure out what the functions do, and what they return.
  • Make sure you document your code well. Your program should have
    • a header, with a description of what it does
    • headers for each function. This can be a short 1-liner for simple functions. Use triple-double-quotes for function headers.
    • comments inside the code as needed to explain what goes on with the computation.
