We are definitely in the era of ''big data''.  That's 10 billion records stored somewhere, in some database held by Apple.  There's a lot of data to be filtered out from this: how old the downloaders are, what gender, what type of music they buy, how is the time a song is bought influenced by various events in the media, if somebody has bought these ''N'' songs, what is the most likely song they will want to buy, which means that song should be advertised, pushed to that prospective buyer, and somebody should be charged for this advertisement...

We are definitely in the era of big data. That's 10 billion records stored somewhere, in some database held by Apple. There's a lot of data to be filtered out from this:

  • how old are the downloaders?
  • what gender are they?
  • What type of music do they buy?
  • How is the time at which a song is bought influenced by various events in the media?
  • I somebody has bought N particular songs, what is the most likely song they will want to buy next?
