Google Education SummitGoogle, Mountain View, CA, June 16-17, 2016
I was invited for the second year to participate in Google Summit on Education. I spent 2 days at the Mountain View complex, discussing various aspects of computer science education with CS colleagues, most of them I had met last year at the same summit. On the first day, the meeting took place in the "Garage," a maker place for Googlers to make, think, create, design. I took a few pics as ideas for possible remodeling of our classroom spaces.
I was struck by the number of different projects Google has rolled out for CS education, CS educators, college-level and high school level students. Here are some:
- Google Guide to Technical Development for Students
- Computer Science Summer Institute for incoming first-year students.
- #Hash Code students connect in (virtual) teams and code toward completing a project.
- and many more programs...
I am looking forward to spending some more time, very likely this fall, working with Google on exploring some areas of CS education. Would be cool.
And, of course, I took advantage of my trip to visit some of my favorite peeps!
